Ex- Physician Accused of Sexual Assault Charges Involving 38 Patients
Prosecutors have stated that a former doctor has been charged with carrying out sexual assaults involving 38 victims who were patients.
The Grave Charges
Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham is accused of numerous sexual offences – comprising some against children younger than 13 – between 2017 and 2021.
One senior prosecutor stated, “Our prosecutors have diligently worked to assist a thorough and intricate investigation, carefully reviewing the available evidence to determine that there is a strong case to proceed to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”
Scope of the Police Inquiry
These allegations follow what investigators described as a “complex investigation” into reported sexual offences at two hospitals: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and Russells Hall hospital.
The defendant will appear at the local magistrates' court on 20 January.
Breakdown of Charges
The charging documents said the forty-five charges he is charged with:
- Fifteen counts of sexual assault.
- Seventeen counts of assault by penetration.
- 9 counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
- 3 counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
- One count of attempting to assault by penetration.
