Performer Denies Anti-Vax Position After Lending His Voice To Contentious Coronavirus Documentary
Liam Neeson has given his narration to a recent film that casts doubt on the efficacy of vaccinations and commends one-time cabinet secretary Robert F Kennedy Jr.
The Documentary's Provocative Origins
Titled "Plague of Corruption," the project is based on a popular book published by a controversial scientist, who became famous during the pandemic for assertions that the illness was caused by a faulty batch of the influenza shot.
Her writing partner, a producer, has previously authored books with far-right radio host a known commentator. He took to social media praising Neeson's participation in the documentary.
A Strong Rebuttal
A spokesperson for the actor have provided a comment strongly denying implications that he subscribes to anti-vaccine views.
"Everyone can acknowledge that corruption might be present within the medical sector, but that should never be conflated with rejection of vaccines," the comment reads. "Neeson has never been, and is not, anti-vaccination. His considerable work with Unicef highlights his long-held support for global immunisation initiatives."
The response noted that the actor did not shape the project's narrative and that concerns about its content should be directed to the creators.
Key Claims In the Film
As presented, the voiceover spoken by Neeson includes several strong statements:
- It states that pro-vaccine voices have insisted on "blind obedience" to health authorities.
- It declares that "research has become highly politicized."
- Kennedy is featured stating, "The core flaw with vaccines is that they just aren't adequately tested."
- It further attacks stay-at-home orders, claiming they caused psychological harm that resulted in thousands of lives.
- Concerning the immunizations, it cites a perspective that they were "hurriedly approved" and seen as "risky trials."
Historical Background and Ongoing Issues
The film includes a past television report about AIDS medication trials on children, which was later the topic of a correction by the corporation for unbalanced reporting.
Recently, the political figure instructed the Centers for Disease Control to change its official position that there is no causal relationship between vaccines and autism. This supposed link is echoed in the film, contrary to a new report from the World Health Organisation stating no such link has been found.
A Past Statement of Endorsement
Standing in contrast to the film's tone, Neeson has previously shown clear advocacy for vaccines in his role as a charity ambassador.
In 2022, he referred to vaccines as "an extraordinary human success story," stating that "The discourse about vaccines in lately has forgotten how much positive impact they have done... It is perhaps one of the biggest collective achievements in history."
The film concludes with Neeson's narration stating, "This is not the end of our journey. Rather, it is the start of a fresh chapter."
